Mazak is a layered image editor written in Rust with egui. The source code isn't public, but the app is available to use on the web and to download.
What it does
- Layers. Stack layers with 14 blend modes, with undo history for your edits.
- Tools. Work with selection, brush, shape, gradient and text tools.
- Effects. Use 9 adjustments and 32 effects.
- Plugins. Write your own effects in WGSL. They run on the GPU, and Mazak builds their settings dialog from a small TOML file.
Formats
Mazak opens and saves common image formats, including PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and TIFF, as well as DDS and KTX2 textures. Layered work can be saved in its own .mzk format or as OpenRaster. It can also import .pdn, AVIF and JPEG XL files.
